Lit by Richard Armitage US, aka Marcia K. 6th June 2018
I've attached a poem my brothers and I have held tightly ever since we lost our mom to pancreatic cancer 12 years ago. It captures my mom’s eternal spirit, and comforts us to this day. Hope it also resonates with you.
Do Not Stand at my Grave and Weep
By Mary Elizabeth Frye
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
This candle was first lit on the 6th of June 2018 and will burn for 93 years 6 months and 1 day.
