Lighting this candle because in my country today we celebrate the Day of The Dead, when we remember with love and respect our family, friends and loved ones who passed away before us. It is a day when we believe they are allowed to visit this world and be among us again.
We set a table with food, flowers, water and candles ("ofrenda") so their spirits may quench their thirst and hunger for later return to heaven.
At my home you have your real candle on that table, next to my beloved uncle's, who also passed away this year, on February.
It is a very important celebration because, as long as someone is remembered that person is still alive.
